Inkblots: 27 Things You Should Learn

1.      To preserve more memories.
As Heraclitus has said: No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man. Take as many pictures and immerse yourself in the moment because you may never have that same experience anymore.

2.      To learn to say NO and not be guilty about it.
It is okay to decline or assert that you cannot do this or that because you can’t do everything for everyone all of the time.
3.      Try not to spread yourself thin all the time.
Do things, one at a time.
4.      To set more realistic goals.
Remember that setting realistic goals do not mean giving up your biggest dreams. Make peace with the circumstances you cannot change and build your goals from there.
5.      There may be things you have to say yes to… sometimes.
A glass of wine; a bottle of beer; a spontaneous adventure… maybe it’s time to  say yes to some.
6.      Read. Read. And read.
You have probably been too busy but make time to read. ALWAYS.
7.      Write. Write. And write.
Even when it feels like the words do not make sense, for Pete’s sake, WRITE.
8.      Review your English grammar.
Oops! It’s time to review your English grammar lessons. SERIOUSLY.
9.      Try to eat the food you said you “don’t eat”.
Beef, tuna, blue marlin and all those food may be good if you just give them a try.
10.   EXERCISE!
Physical activity is not only healthy, it also release your happy hormones. Please, exercise some more.
11.   Make art more.
Make friends with colors, brushes, crayons, pad papers and all those things that are already gathering dust in your room.
12.   TRY to spend less time online.
“Sa Facebook kasi parang iniingit mo lang ang sarili mo when you see what others are posting but you are not even sure if what you see is true.” Yep, he nailed it.
13.   Travel more. It doesn’t have to be expensive.
Travel more because you owe it to yourself. You have to make sure that you go to as many places as you can and make more memories to remember.
14.   SAVE.
Please, don’t forget your bank account. You will thank yourself later.
15.   Work, work, work, work, work.
Rihanna was right: WORK! Be the kind of lady who does not need a man to survive.
16.   Don’t forget to reward yourself.
Because your happiness is your biggest investment, don’t forget to reward yourself (no matter what your definition of that is).
17.   Learn a new skill or two.
Life is a process of constant learning. Try your best to learn new skills.
18.   Make time for all the things that matter.
Busy is just a word. Learn to divide your 24 hours and 365 days for the things that truly matter.
19.   Finish all the things that are marked pending.
Yes, apart from the master’s thesis, there are many other things that you need to finish.
20.   It is okay not to have too many friends.
What really matters is that you have good ones.
21.   Choose your company well.
As experts would say, you are the average of the five people you spend your time with so make sure you choose these people well.
22.   If people choose to walk out of your life, let them.
When friends and other people choose to leave, you have to let them because maybe that’s what they need most.
23.   Do not chase people anymore.
Those who suddenly stopped talking to you; those who cut ties without bothering to explain why; those who just disappeared chose to do so. You cannot always chase people who chose to walk away.
24.   There are only very few people who will stick through good and bad times.
And even if they can be brutally honest, they just mean well.
25.   Listen.
There is so much wisdom you gain from listening.
26.   Let go.
When things hurt you, let go.
27.   Love again.
Because, no matter how much it hurt you before, you can love again. LOVE AGAIN.
