2 Corinthians 4:8-12

Rejections aren't the prettiest things in the world.

But if there is anything worth thanking God for right now, it is the assurance that somewhere out there, the sun will come out.

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

There Is Joy in Waiting

"Willing to wait ma'am?" asked the crew of the restaurant. I wanted to give the crew a stern look. In this day and age, who wants to wait?

But I waited anyway...

The Problem with Journalism

I have always wanted to be a part of the media ever since I was a kid. There have been ups, downs, downs, downs… and ups in my in again and out again participation in this industry.

5 Things Teaching Taught Me

It had been a subject of debate between me and my mom as she wanted me to take up education but the stubborn child in me believed I can change the world if I become a journalist. As years went by, I started to weigh my options and after much thinking, decided to take up further studies. I knew it then- I wanted to have the qualifications to teach.

Mom, You’re Right

"Breathe. You’re going to be okay. Breathe and remember that you’ve been in this place before. You’ve been this uncomfortable and anxious and scared, and you’ve survived. Breathe and know that you can survive this too. These feelings can’t break you. They’re painful and debilitating, but you can sit with them and eventually, they will pass. Maybe not immediately, but sometime soon, they are going to fade and when they do, you’ll look back at this moment and laugh for having doubted your resilience. I know it feels unbearable right now, but keep breathing, again and again. This will pass. I promise it will pass."

Chapter 27

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. ~Oprah Winfrey

I am not the type who makes a great deal out of my birthday. Of course, every year I make it a point to thank God for the gift of life and the good and bad experiences of the previous year but I am never the type to throw a grand party.

Birthday Blues

I woke up today feeling lonely. I think I really shouldn’t be browsing things that will make me more upset than I should allow myself to be. I know I shouldn’t be moping around. As they say “every gising is a blessing” and after saying my “Good morning, Lord!” prayer, I ended up taking a little longer pondering things.

Grammarnazi and the Zombie

Me and English, we have issues. When I was much younger, I thought that being able to communicate in English is the measure of intelligence.

Inkblots: 27 Things You Should Learn

1.      To preserve more memories.
As Heraclitus has said: No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man. Take as many pictures and immerse yourself in the moment because you may never have that same experience anymore.

Inkblots: I Thought

As you look back, you realize that so many things in life happen - things that pleasantly surprise you; things that make you feel happy; things that make you feel blessed; and things that hurt you.

Uncertainties

Beep.

One message.

Reads.

Frowns.

Puts phone back.

This routine has been too familiar in the past few weeks.

You never bother anymore.

And I wonder why and what went wrong.

You tell me you miss me.

Maybe that's just sometimes.

And it's killing me.

Beep.

One message.

I hope it's you this time.
