#Holidate at Taytayan

Some days, you really just want to breathe. 

Last Wednesday (July 6, 2016), as our Muslim brethren were celebrating the end of the Ramadhan, Irene, Ivy, Queenie and I had our own little celebration.

Because of Irene and Ivy, I ended up as a part-time instructor at Cordova Public College. Yes, it was unplanned but as fate would have it, that's how things went. (More on that in another post).

I promised the two of them that we will be eating out once I get my first salary as a teacher. Thankfully, there's a holiday this month and even if we were actually told to report for work, I begged off as I badly needed some time off. 

We ate at Taytayan, a restaurant located in Pilipog, Cordova, Cebu.

Taytayan is a Cebuano word which means bridge. The restaurant is just right after the bridge that connects Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova. 

The Food

Compared to other restaurants, the serving size and the price of the dishes at Taytayan are much bigger and cheaper. 

We ordered the following:

Rice Platter

Baby Back Ribs

2 orders of Pork Barbecue 

Battered Chicken

Pitcher of Iced Tea

All of these cost a little over P600. 

I would say that the taste of the dishes that we ordered weren't the most sumptous that I've tried but still, Taytayan offers a great deal for your money.

The Ambiance

As we got there at noon time, there were not many people in the restaurant yet. It was high tide so the "floating" part of the restaurant has water around it. (The water disappears when it is low tide).

Taytayan is not as high-end as many other restaurants around but the ambiance is good enough for a chatter even if it is just beside the main road.

The Park

Apart from the restaurant, there is also a park and playground where guests can play with their kids or just unwind like when they were kids.

This was a perfect distraction after eating.

There were also some animals like the love birds, iguana and albino python (which devoured a cat before we left).

 

The lovebirds were all in yellow like this little lady.

This python ate a cat before we left. I could not understand how others not feel pity for the little cat while it was being choked to death by this snake. I could not bear watching it at all.

 Yay or Nay?

As a whole, I would say that the dining experience at Taytayan Restaurant was fun and worth the money. You can come here with your family or friends and it is a great bonus that there are facilities that are good for the kids.

I just could not say that they serve the most delicious dishes. It is good for the price per serving but I am the type who would really love my food tasty to the tiniest bit. It took a little while for our food to be served as well.

To Get There:

If you are coming from Cebu City, take a cab and just tell the driver to take you to Taytayan Restaurant in Cordova. It is just after the bridge that connects Lapu-Lapu and Cordova.
